Graduate Student Position – Optical Spectroscopy & Machine Learning in Agriculture
We are seeking a motivated graduate student to join our lab, which specializes in advanced optical spectroscopic techniques, optical system design, mathematical modeling, and machine learning. Our research focuses on evaluating molecular properties in agricultural produce using cutting-edge optical and computational tools.
Current projects include:
1. Transmission Raman spectroscopy for probing large agricultural produce – developing both measurement techniques and analytical tools.
2. SWIR-based measurement methods for fresh-cut produce – with the goal of building decision support systems based on spectral data.
We are looking for candidates with:
• A background in optics or optical engineering (basic knowledge is sufficient),
• Strong mathematical and Python programming skills,
• Interest and/or experience in machine learning, especially deep learning techniques.
