Dr. Zachuts’ research focuses on physiology of stress in dairy cows, and on nutritional means to improve the physiological responses of dairy cows during metabolic and heat stresses; by modulating inflammation and the endocannabinoid system. Her research is pioneering in exploring modulation of the endocannabinoid system as a novel approach to affect the physiological responses during stress in dairy cows. The lab works both in vivo and in vitro, utilizing omics and bioinformatics as well as molecular biology and novel methods to investigate the physiology of dairy cows. We explore the immune system, metabolic organs and reproductive tissues in cattle.
