The Agro-Climatology Laboratory at the Soil and Water Institute focuses on understanding how environmental conditions affect crop growth. The perspective is at both regional and national scales, examining how future climate conditions are expected to influence agroclimatic zones in Israel in particular and worldwide in general. The proposed research will focus on analyzing wheat yield projections for Israel in the coming decades under different climate scenarios, with the aim of identifying ways to increase productivity.
requirements:
Conducting analyses in commercial wheat fields on a weekly basis during the growing season. Analyzing forecast data for future scenarios and for a reference period. Comparing the reference period with field measurements. Ability and interest in computing and data science.
You will get experience with:
Field measurements – collecting various crop growth indicators such as leaf area index, biomass, and phenological stages. Developing programming skills (Python) and working with a computational cluster.
