Nahum Snapir

נחום סנפיר

Prof. Nahum Snapir was born in Tel Aviv in 1934. He was a member of the Department of Animal Sciences at the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment in Rehovot, and specialized in poultry research.

His research areas:

  • Regulation of food intake, body weight, and obesity by the central nervous system

  • Endocrinology and neuroendocrinology of reproductive traits in poultry

Academic milestones at the Faculty of Agriculture:

  • Prof. Snapir was appointed Senior Lecturer in 1971, Associate Professor in 1974, and Full Professor in 1978.

  • He served as Head of the Department of Animal Sciences, Chairman of the Teaching Committee, and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

  • In 1995, he was elected to the position of Head of the Agricultural Research Organization and served in this role until 1999.

  • He retired in 2002.

  • Passed away in 2017.
