Peanut

Dr. Ran Hovav - Breeding program manager
The peanut breeding program focuses on the development of new cultivars primarily targeted to the European market, with an emphasis on the commercial production of high-quality in-shell pods.
Within the program, advanced cultivars and breeding lines have been developed and evaluated, characterized by high uniformity, clean and attractive pod appearance, and consistent seed quality that meets the requirements of premium markets. Particular emphasis is placed on compliance with stringent quality standards and on shelf-life extension through the development of high-oleic peanut cultivars. Over the years, advanced lines have been transferred to value-for-cultivation and performance trials, with several currently at advanced stages toward commercial adoption. The program strengthens the position of local production as a reliable supplier of high-quality in-shell peanuts to competitive European markets.
