Prof. Shmuel Assouline is a senior researcher at the Institute of Soil, Water, and Environmental Sciences. He specializes in soil physics and hydrology, with a particular focus on evaporation, infiltration, and soil erosion processes. His research contributes significantly to the understanding of desertification and the advancement of soil conservation.
Prof. Assouline assumed his leadership role during the global COVID-19 crisis. He managed the Institute while navigating the challenges of social distancing and ensuring the continuity of essential agricultural experiments. Throughout his tenure, he has championed a vision of “Precision Agriculture” driven by data-based insights and advanced sensory technologies.
