Dr. Noam David is a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Volcani Institute. His scientific interests include weather and atmospheric science, applied meteorology, hydrometeorology, and environmental monitoring. His research focuses on harnessing prevalent technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) data for weather monitoring and forecasting.
Dr. David holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Tel Aviv University, followed by a postdoctoral position at Cornell University (NY). He has also served as a Visiting Scientist at Columbia University (NY) and the University of Tokyo (Japan).
Prior to joining the Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. David served as a co-Principal Investigator for applied research projects with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and led a startup (AtmosCell) focused on advanced weather monitoring and forecasting solutions (2019–2024). Additionally, Dr. David was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology of the American Meteorological Society (2020–2023).
Part of Dr. David’s work has earned international recognition, including a medal from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, 2010), the ‘Best of What’s New’ Award by Popular Science Magazine (2009) and winning the CGIAR international ‘Inspire Challenge’ competition (2018, 2019). His research has been featured in prominent publications such as Scientific American, The Conversation, Nature, BAMS, Physics Today, and others.
