Dr. Miron Josua (Ph.D., Hebrew University, 1985) is a distinguished researcher specializing in ruminant nutrition and rumen microbiology. He joined the Agricultural Research Organization (Volcani Institute) in 1989, where he served as a senior researcher and Head of the Cattle and Sheep Research Department (2010–2015).
Dr. Josua’s research focused on improving dairy cattle feeding efficiency, particularly through the utilization of agricultural by-products and chemical-enzymatic treatments. He established Israel’s first laboratory for rumen microbiology and published over 112 peer-reviewed articles in international journals.
In addition to his scientific work, Dr. Josua held significant leadership roles, including Chairman of the Institute Scientific Council and Chairman of the Association of Research Staff in Civilian Research Institutions. He was awarded the “Dairy Cattle Industry Honoree” in 2022. Since retiring in 2020, he continues to contribute to the institute as a volunteer and public advocate.
