Research Interests

The Cytryn lab explores and exploit microbes in agroecosystems, targeting single microbes and complex communities using cultivation, and advanced “culture-independent” molecular and bioinformatic methods. Our research currently focuses on understanding the dynamics and mitigating the spread of microbial pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in agroecosystems, and on exploiting microbes to combat plant and animal disease.

Research Areas

  • microbial ecology
  • environmental microbiology
  • antibiotic resistance
  • plant-microbe interactions
  • biocontrol
