Dr. Sherman completed his undergraduate studies in genetics and field crops at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Hebrew University. He earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Hebrew University, focusing on meiosis in yeast. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Whitehead Institute at MIT, in the lab of Prof. Gerald Fink, where he specialized in auxin and tryptophan biosynthesis pathways in plants. Subsequently, he worked as a senior researcher in genomics and molecular biology of fungi at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals (formerly Microbia). Dr. Sherman currently holds a research position at the Institute of Plant Sciences, Agricultural Research Organization, Volcani Center, where he serves as a senior researcher in the Department of Fruit Tree Sciences. In his current role, he manages the National Center for Genomic Editing in Agriculture
