The research in our group deals with genetics of traits of agricultural importance in the main crops of the Cucurbits family (melon, watermelon, pumpkin and squash). Specifically, the research focuses on building genetic and genomic infrastructures, on genetic mapping and discovery of the genes controlling yield, fruit quality and disease resistance traits. on the applicative level, we develop trait-linked markers for marker-assisted selection (MAS), as well as gene targets for precise genome editing.
