At the new facility of the soils group in Gilat are 28 2-cubic meter weighing-drainage lysimeters to be used initially for investigations into irrigation salinity and frequency on grapevines and for water consumption of deficit and sufficiently irrigated olives. The facility also includes a greenhouse housing a rotating automated unit of 24 60 liter lysimeters, 3 climate controlled growth rooms and additional experimental space.
