The Feldman Lab is looking for a Master’s student/ Post Doc for the “At the Forefront of Fungal Disease Research: Molecular Biology & Host-Pathogen Interactions” research 🍄‍🟫

The Feldman Lab is a newly established research group at the Volcani Institute. We study the molecular and cellular biology of pathogenic fungi to understand how they develop and cause disease. We are looking for motivated and creative individuals to join our lab.
Requirements: Hands-on experience in microbiology and molecular techniques is a significant advantage Self-motivation, curiosity, and a drive to build and lead new projects.

Experience with:

Advanced Molecular Biology Techniques: Mastery of fungal genetic engineering, genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9), gene cloning, and gene expression analysis (qPCR) to decipher virulence mechanisms in pathogens. Enzyme and Protein Biochemistry: Hands-on experience in characterizing and assaying fungal enzymes involved in the infection process, protein purification, and analyzing biochemical interactions between the pathogen and its host. Molecular Genetics and Genomics: Practical use of bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis to identify and characterize novel virulence factors. Molecular Microbiology: High-level proficiency in working with fungal cultures, strain isolation, and developing innovative molecular approaches for disease control. Host-Pathogen Interaction Studies: Integrating “wet-lab” research (In vitro) with plant infection assays (In vivo) to understand the fungal “attack strategy” at the molecular level.
