Biography
Prof. Eli Feinerman (born 1946) is an esteemed agricultural economist from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. His areas of expertise include public policy, water resource management, and environmental economics.
Prof. Feinerman headed the Institute during a challenging period characterized by initiatives to relocate the Institute to northern Israel. He fought to maintain the Institute’s integrity and preserve its human capital. Under his leadership, emphasis was placed on research with economic feasibility and on strengthening ties with the industry.
He has served on numerous public committees (such as the Water Committee), and his research on water pricing and the allocation of production factors has influenced the formulation of agricultural policy in Israel. Prof. Feinerman promoted the vision that agriculture is not solely about food production, but also about the preservation of open spaces and environmental values.
