CALL FOR STUDENTS
As global population grows and the availability of natural resources shrinks, society faces a grand challenge to secure the supply of water, energy and food. With increases in food production under intensified agricultural systems, our group asks questions related to the sustainable management of animal and food production wastes.
Our goal is to recover renewable energy, bio-based chemicals and agricultural nutrients from food production waste streams, while minimizing their carbon footprints. We combine fundamental and applied research to develop sustainable processes by integrating biological and thermo-chemical treatments to recover valuable resources from agricultural waste streams.
