- מיפוי מולקולרי וזיהוי גנים עקריים המבקרים תכונות חשובות לגדול הפלפל כגון גודל וצורת פרי, צבע הפרי וחריפות.

- יצירת קוי השבחה המכילים גנים לעמידות למחלות ופיתוח סמנים מולקולארים ככלי עזר לברירת צמחים עמידים.

- לימוד הבסיס הגנטי והמולקולארי של בקרת דגם הצימוח והמעבר לפריחה בפלפל.
