The role of strigolactones (SLs) in the rhizomicrobiome formation |
We propose an extensive study of the microbiome in the rhizosphere of tomato and chickpea mutants, defective in SL biosynthesis, compared with the microbiome of wildtype plants. This study, combined with a correlation network analysis among the metabolic pathway-related genes in plant roots and rhizomicrobiome composition and with transcriptomic data of the bacterial and fungal community, will lead to the better understanding of the SLs function in plant interactions with soil microorganisms and allow developing a model of plant-microbiome interactions in rhizosphere.
