LAB-ON-A-CHIP NANO-SENSOR FOR EARLY AND PRECISE DETECTION OF DECLINED ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFRACTION |
The overall aim of this project is to develop a generic, integrated sensing platform for the detection of a decline in heart health (i.e., heart attack). We propose to design and fabricate a “lab-on-chip” platform that will enable the real-time evaluation of the onset of cardiac biomarker level elevations in patient plasma, specifically cTnI used as a model target.

Real-Time Detection of Subclinical Mastitis in Dairy Cows |
The suggested research specifically addresses the most prevalent health problem in dairy cows and major problem for the dairy industry worldwide. Our proposed multidisciplinary approach is based on an innovative combination of new nanomaterials with sensitive, specific and robust capture probes to build an integrated platform, “lab-on-chip”, for label-free biosensing of subclinical mastitis. The system will allow sensitive and rapid detection of “real” milk samples quality and safety, outside laboratory boundaries, using a simple and portable device.

Model crop analysis for Agrivoltaic system |
We are seeking a qualified and highly motivated graduate student to conduct a study of solar power generation in open agriculture fields (Agrivoltaics) with minimal crop losses through shading effect. Responsibilities include developing models and simulations for plant growth analysis combined with solar power generation. Duties will also include primary research, evaluation of crop/electricity system performance, environmental impact, and photosynthesis and yield modeling.

Familiarity with at least one of crop simulation models: STICS, AQUACROP' DSSAT or other similar models.

An aptitude for one (or more) of fields: computer modeling and simulation, numerical methods, control systems, sustainable energy. The experience in agronomy is preferable. Effective communication interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
