  Impact of wastewater reuse on antibiotic dissemination: scope and means of mitigation

  Research will focus on understanding and enhancing environmental processes that contribute to mitigation of antibiotic resistance from wastewater effluents, specifically focusing on stabilization reservoirs and irrigated soils. It will require application of cutting-edge molecular and bioinformatic tools, targeting systems ranging from bench scale microcosms to full scale reservoirs and fields. The project is one facet within the context of an interdisciplinary pan-European grant focusing on development of novel wastewater treatment platforms for sustainable irrigation that was recently funded.
