The Institute of Animal Science, ARO, The Volcani center has an open tenure-track position for a research scientist in the field of stem cells in domestic animals
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in life science and at least one year of post-doctoral training.
The Institute will consider applicants that have demonstrated excellence and creativity during their doctoral and postdoctoral training. Applicants are expected to carry out independent competitive research programs.
Possible research topics:
- Applying tissue cultures from muscle and fat cells of farm animals to generate "cultured meat".
- Broadening our understanding of the mechanisms leading to the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into muscle and fat cells. Characterization of the various steps and their regulation.
- Characterizing the interactions between cell types that are essential for the establishment of cultured muscle tissue.
- Integrative in vivo and in vitro studies to dissect the structure and composition of muscle and fat tissues: developing methodologies for sorting and directing stem cells differentiation into muscle and fat cells.
