Director, Central Library of the Agricultural Research Organization from January 1996. The library was previously managed by professional employees of the Faculty of Agriculture Library. Since my employment the library has been managed independently. For this purpose the "Sapir" library management software was purchased for cataloging and classifying literature for the Agricultural Research Organization Library. Most departmental libraries were transferred to the Central Library and the initial work was to gather, weed out and re-catalog all the items which were then shelved in the Central Library. In 2000, I initiated our membership in MALMAD, the Center for Digital Information Services. At the same time I led the transition to acquisition of electronic literature. (Newspapers, databases and books). In recent years, efforts were made to purchase electronic archives of newspapers. I try to ensure the acquisition of new administrative tools for managerial software, as well as software for the benefit of library users. (Bibliographic software, Link Resolver). As a member of ASM I served for two years on its Audit Committee. At the end of this period we initiated the unification of the two organizations of Israeli librarians ASMI-ASI. In 2008 I was part of a delegation of library directors on a two weeks study tour to libraries in the former East Germany to learn and see the ways they worked before and after the unification of Germany.. The tour was organized in cooperation with ASMI and the Goethe Institute who helped finance the tour. |
