Research Interests / Job description
Studies on crop management (rotation, no-tillage, mineral nutrition, weeds etc.) to improve rainfed field crops. Precision agriculture: developing new fertilization managements, that include decision support systems to increase wheat grain quality, site specific managements and variable rate application, based on GIS layers, and multi/hyper spectral remote sensing suited for semi arid regions. Grain quality parameters as gluten index and health components.

Dr. Bonfil's primary research interests are rainfed field crops and precision agriculture. His current research projects include:
 

Italy-Israel Program grant: Towards sustainable agricultural management using high-resolution X-band radar precipitation estimates. CI.

Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Agriculture grant: Improving the ability of Israeli winter rainfed grain crops to face temperature and water instability. PI.

Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Agriculture grant: Cereals productivity and projected climate changes: Models, remotely sensed and field observations. CI.

Field Crops Board grant: Improved dryland crop management with fixed experimental plot. PI.
