POSITION AVAILABLE: SCIENTIST – INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING, ARO, VOLCANI CENTER, ISRAEL
The Institute of Agricultural Engineering of the Agricultural Research Organization, Volcani Center, is seeking a scientist for a tenured position in 2013 as per the following criteria:
Scientific background: Agricultural and/or Mechanical and/or Industrial and/or Aeronautics and/or Chemical and/or Food and/or Electrical and/or Biomedical and/or Biochemical Engineering
Research fields to be pursued: Development and application of sensors and sensing systems, automation and design of mechanical and mechatronic systems. Specifically, the research should address systems that incorporate sensing, measurement and control of agricultural systems in general, and particularly systems that include livestock and fish.
Job description: The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program in basic and applied studies at both the laboratory and field scale in the above described research fields. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain research grants from local and foreign sources, to participate in multidisciplinary studies in collaboration with other scientists from the Institute and other research institutes in Israel and abroad and, to publish research results in the reviewed international scientific literature.
Requirements: Only candidates with a PhD in one of the above scientific fields, or closely related fields, from an accredited university or institution will be considered. The candidates should have demonstrated their ability to conduct and publish rigorous scientific research related to the above mentioned fields of interest.
Conditions and selection process: Candidates should be Israeli citizens or eligible for Israeli citizenship. The candidates will be screened for their suitability by a search committee established ad-hoc for this position and will be required to submit their application by public tender to the Israel Civil Service Commission. The successful candidate will undergo a trial period and will be supervised by an advisory committee. Final tenure is dependent on the decision of the Professional Committee of the ARO.
