Improving cuttings quality
Export of cutting from Israel encompassing a large section of ornamental export. During storage and export rooted and non-rooted cuttings experience stresses of continuous darkness and cold leading either to senescence or chilling injury. In our lab we develop knowledge-based treatments to improve cuttings quality.

We concentrate on two types of cutting: Pelargonium cuttings which are sensitive to extended darkness and those of different species (Dipladenia, Alamanda, Lantana, Heliotropium, Plecterntus and more ) which are sensitive to cold. In few of the species which are sensitive to cold we found that the ethylene receptor inhibitor, 1-MCP, reduces the damage as is seen in the picture of Alemnda cuttings.
