First batch of biochar has been made on our BEK!
Beni Lew has built and fired up our pyrolysis unit, and generated our first batch of biochar, from Eucalptus wood. It was made at relatively low temperature (about 330oC) in indirect retort mode. We will be testing higher temperatures with the same material, before moving onto other types of biomass. If you're in the area, stop in a take a look. Beni has it at the Ag Engieneering Institute.
